Local History Programs: Winter 2013 PDF Print

Come explore local history with the MAC in 2013 - Sequim's Centennial year!

All presentations begin at 10 a.m. at the
Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road, Sequim.

Fee: $5 per program, payable at the door. No advance registration.
Class fees support continued Museum & Arts Center programming.


Friday, Jan. 18: "Architectural Styles & Influences in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley"
Presenter: Ken Hays, Sequim mayor and architect
Details: View Sequim-Dungeness Valley buildings and barns past and present through an architect's eyes.


Friday, Feb. 15: "A History of Sequim-Dungeness Valley Schools"
Presenters: Irene Wyman, "Clallam County Schools, East to West" author & historian; Kathy Monds, Clallam County Historical Society executive director; Esther Nelson, lifetime area resident & pioneer family descendant.
Details: Learn of the rich history of East End Clallam County schools from Blyn to Blue Mountain.


Friday, March 15: "The Wreck of the SS Governor: A Requiem"
Presenters: Maritime Documentation Society
Details: Explore the wreck of the SS Governor (off of Port Townsend) and the remains of other vessels sunken in North Olympic Peninsula waterways with the Maritime Documentation Society.


Friday, April 19: "The Manis Mastodon Archaeological Site"
Presenter: Clare Manis Hatler
Details: Unearth Sequim's history-making archaeological find of the century with the woman who was at the forefront of it all!
