More than 100 volunteers participate in a variety of activities, including staffing the Exhibit Center, Museum Store, and Second Chance Consignment Store. Volunteers also help in many other areas of MAC operations, including publicity, computers, special events, and local history and genealogy research.

Sept. 17, 2009: The following MAC volunteer positions are now open:

  • Board of Trustees: Board Member Application
  • Children's Docent: Conduct a summer program consisting of 12 weeks of programs for children at the Exhibit Center using the Native Tales curriculum.
  • Volunteer Recruiter: Outreach position includes advertising, speaking, and attending events where potential volunteers may be found; recruitment is for all MAC divisions (Exhibit Center, DeWitt research, Dungeness Schoolhouse, Second Chance Shop).
  • Exhibit Fabrication Specialist: Specifically works with mounting exhibit material onto foam core; works on an as-need basis.
  • Monograph Author: Special position for research author to consolidate primary source material in the MAC Archives into a series of papers on historical subjects; topics may include Sequim-Dungeness Valley history pertaining to maritimes, agriculture, farm equipment, and logging operations.
  • Document Archivist: Prepare Finding Aids for material in the Vertical Files (Whatton Research Library) with the objective of cataloguing for an online index and inclusion in the PastPerfect Database.
  • Photo Archivist: Computer data-entry to catalogue Robert Cooper's body of photographic work.
  • Photographer: Photograph artifacts from the MAC Collection for inclusion in the PastPerfect Database; small photography area will be set up on-site at the DeWitt Building.
  • Development Officer: Raise public awareness and funding for the Heritage Building Project.
  • FILLED!!!!
    Business Machine Collection Tech
    : Prepare 20 business machines for long-term storage; special skills include familiarity with mechanical typewriters and care of small machinery.
